Anxious to start farming, Donna decided to buy two Nubian goats. Soon, Mini Nubians joined the group and this breed turned out to be the right fit for the farm. The farm is now home to approximately 20 goats, five Finn sheep, one Quarter Horse, chickens, Royal Palm turkeys, koi, two rescued Dalmatians (inspiration for the farm name), and five house cats.

Donna makes soap, lotions and other such concoctions using milk from their small herd of miniature Nubian goats. They use Fair Trade, Organic and sustainably grown and harvested ingredients in their products and are always working on our formulas to improve on them!

The animals on our farm are not considered livestock but beloved pets and are treated as such. They are given lots of love every day! From our goats, sheep, potbelly pigs and chickens and turkeys and Beau, the horse, they love people!

At Ellen April we are dedicated to creating the most gentle and luxurious soap you’ll ever use.

We care about what we put on our skin, so naturally we care about what goes into our soap. Too many things these days are artificial. You’ll never find an artificial fragrance or color in our soap. Ellen April soap is scented with natural essential oils and colored with botanicals, herbs, beneficial clays and pure minerals.

Every Ellen April soap is biodegradable and free of detergents & and harsh chemicals. We use only pure vegetable oils in our soap and body products and most of our products are vegan.

We source our oils and butters ethically. We use only organic palm oil from sustainable plantations in South America, in order to help protect the fragile ecosystem of the Malaysian rainforests. Our natural unrefined shea butter is from a fair trade West African women’s cooperative.

We’re proud of these fine ingredients and list them on every soap we make.

We care about the earth. We purchase supplies locally whenever we can and recycle and reuse in both our daily lives and the soap studio. Our packaging is recyclable and we use sustainable materials as often as possible. Our business cards are printed by a certified green printer on recycled paper with soy ink. Our home and soap studio are powered by 100% Peco Wind energy.

Ellen April soap is created with the very best the earth has to offer. It will pamper you with luxurious lather, delight you with natural fragrance, cleanse you gently and leave your skin feeling great. You can’t ask for much more than that.

Ellen April comes to the market on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month.

After an extensive restoration, The Mill at Anselma was licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture to sell our stone-ground flour products. Our flour and cornmeal are ground using the Mill’s centuries’ old equipment and is operated by our dedicated volunteers who run the mill, tend the hopper, sift, and package the flour and cornmeal.
